Taking Risks In Life - Ecclesiastes 11:4-6
| Encouraging Daily Bible Verses |
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well. Ecclesiastes 11:4-6
I saw a poll from a major magazine that asked thousands of elderly people in a nursing home what they would change about there lives if they could start all over again. Unanimously, they stated they wished they would have taken more risks. Maybe try to start their own business, write a few novels, record a CD, go back to school or training, something more than just going to work and watching television.
The Bible verses above tell us there is no perfect time to start taking risks or giving your dream a shot. If you look at your current circumstances, you’ll never start anything. These verses also tell us to take many risks because you don’t know which one will succeed. Who tries only one thing and it’s a success? The guy who invented the bagless Dyson vacuum cleaner, James Dyson, failed over 5,000 times for 5 years when each of his prototypes didn’t work! Finally, James found success at number 5,128. To date James Dyson has sold over $10 BILLION in products worldwide. What if he would have quit after the fourth prototype failed? Or even the 5,000th? He kept going until he achieved his goal, regardless of the circumstances.
Pray for God’s blessing and work very hard on your dream. You can’t even fathom what the Lord can do for you. But if you never even try, you’ll eventually be like the elderly in the nursing home wishing you would have tried something. But unfortunately, it will be too late.
